Spring Home Reset: Release the Clutter, Refresh Your Energy

The key to loving how you live is in knowing what it is you truly love.

~Sarah Ban Breathnach

You ever have one of those moments where your space just feels… heavy?

I started noticing it recently. Opening a drawer, standing in the bathroom, looking at my closet—my mood would quietly shift.

At first, I thought it was just coincidence. But then I realized: it wasn’t. My space wasn’t lifting me anymore. It was weighing me down.

So I slowed down and actually paid attention. That heaviness? It was more than just clutter. It was emotional weight. The thoughts kept coming — What if I need this again? What if I regret letting it go? I used to love this so much.

But here’s the truth: just because I once loved something doesn’t mean I need to keep it. That worn-out dress I adored? It had its moment. Now, it’s just taking up space—not just in my closet, but in my energy.

There’s this Zen quote I keep coming back to:

What’s holding you back is what you’re holding on to.

Then I heard Mel Robbins and Jay Shetty talking about how feeling stuck is often about grieving a past version of yourself. And it clicked.

Sometimes we hold onto stuff because a part of us still misses who we were when we loved it. A part of us still wants life to feel the way it used to. But staying in that nostalgia keeps us from stepping into something new.

And isn’t that what spring is about?

In Feng Shui, spring is ruled by the wood element—growth, expansion, fresh starts. But that energy can’t move if your space is filled with old stories, past versions, and “just in case” items.

And then this line from Sarah Ban Breathnach found its way back to me—simple, but hits deep:

The key to loving how you live is in knowing what it is you truly love.

Not what you think you should love. Not what you used to love. What actually lights you up now.

In my work, I always remind clients—objects hold energy. Your things matter. That stretched-out hair tie at the bottom of your bag? That dress that’s been haunting you since 2017? The jeans you swear you’ll fit into again someday? It all holds a frequency. And if it doesn’t bring joy, beauty, or purpose—it’s time to thank it and let it go.

So this spring, take a beat.

Notice what lifts you.
Notice what drains you.
And be honest about what it’s time to release.

Your space is a mirror.
