What is Feng Shui?

Have you ever walked into a home and felt like you were embraced in a warm hug, shielded from the chaos of the outside world? That's the essence of Feng Shui. It's about creating a sanctuary that nurtures and uplifts us, even amidst life's unpredictability.

Feng Shui, derived from the words wind and water, it is all about balance. Just as wind and water must flow harmoniously to sustain life, so too must the energy within our living spaces. When in balance, this energy fosters growth and vitality; when out of balance, it can lead to chaos and destruction.

Our ancestors understood this connection deeply, living in harmony with the rhythms of nature. Today, however, many of us have lost touch with this innate wisdom. We rush from home to work and back again, disconnected from the earth's natural rhythms.

But Feng Shui reminds us to reconnect. It urges us to create spaces that reflect our true selves and support our growth and well-being. It's about consciously designing our homes to be havens of peace and harmony, where we can thrive and flourish.

I like to think of Feng Shui as yoga for the home. Think about it, our body houses our spirit, but our home houses our body and our spirit. The home plays a major, major role. It's crucial that when we step into our homes, we're greeted by an atmosphere that resonates with us deeply, regardless of the chaos unfolding outside. Our living spaces should serve as sanctuaries where we feel intimately connected to our physical bodies and our emotional selves. It's not just about rearranging furniture; it's about creating intentional spaces that support our growth and evolution.

Think about it: our homes are reflections of our inner selves. The clutter in our spaces mirrors the clutter in our minds, while the flow of energy within our homes reflects the flow of energy within us. By consciously organizing our living spaces, we can manifest positive energies and align with our goals. Good Feng Shui isn't about conforming to external standards; it's about reflecting our true selves and embracing growth and expansion.

Our homes are an outer reflection about how we feel on the inside!

As I step into a client’s space, my first instinct is to tune into the energy and carefully piece together what they’re telling me to what I’m seeing. If I walk through somebody's space and all the light bulbs are burned out, it's usually an expression that they're burnt out in their lives. If all the door handles are loose, it means their life is a little out of control. If there are masks all over the place, it means that they're hiding behind something. If the plumbing is always getting blocked up, it's blocked emotions, not feeling what they're meant to be feeling. If the taps are dripping, it's usually a loss of finances. If there's clutter in certain areas, the southwest is to do with love, so if I go into somebody's space and there’s problems with the heart or problems with relationships, usually you will find tons of clutter in the southwest area or in the bedroom. Same thing with wealth in the southeast, if they're having money issues, challenges, you'll usually find that it's blocked in the southeast. Our environment is an outward reflection of what's going on inside.

Our homes often serve as a mirror of our past, reflecting old beliefs and experiences. It's essential that our living spaces evolve to represent who we are now and what we aim to become. They should embody our aspirations, growth, and the things we wish to invite into our lives. How can we support that? If we want to create more love in our lives, is our home emanating love? Within the home lies the essence of self-care and self-worth for ourselves, our partners, and our families. When you go to the bathroom, is there Epsom salts, and lavender around your bath or lotion that you love to put on your skin when you come out of the shower? Has your bedroom got a comfy bed and pillows and maybe lavender and artwork that inspires you and that represents love and relaxation and peace, and rest. When you walk around your home, is it reflecting those energies that you want to be feeling? That's what good Feng Shui is all about. It is about connecting to your space and making intentional changes that resonate with your inner most self. Simply adding Feng Shui trinkets in hopes of instant manifestation only adds more stuff, more CLUTTER!

Take a moment to close your eyes and visualize your home. Does it uplift your spirits, or do you feel weighed down? Whether your space brings you joy or unease, it's an opportunity to learn and grow, to create a nurturing environment that supports your well-being.

By cultivating environments that emanate peace, love, and gratitude, we invite positive transformations into our lives. Small changes, like rearranging furniture or decluttering our spaces, can have a profound impact on our well-being and perspective.

So, the next time you step into your home, take a moment to notice how it makes you feel. Does it uplift your spirits and nourish your soul? Or does it drain your energy and weigh you down? Remember, your home is more than just a place to live—it's a reflection of who you are and who you aspire to be.

With Feng Shui, you have the power to transform your home into a sanctuary that supports your growth and empowers you to live your best life. It's a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, where every small change brings you one step closer to your truest, most authentic self.
