Getting Back in the Groove : Presence, Gratitude, and Fall Reset with Feng Shui

This past month, I gave myself something I hadn’t in years—space. Space to step away from the constant rhythm of creating, building, and growing my business. Space to simply live presently. For so long, my focus has been on work, and while it’s been fulfilling in many ways, I hadn’t fully allowed myself to pause. This year, something shifted. I felt the weight of the last few years begin to lift, and with it came permission to exhale.

Sometimes life asks us to pause—to step away from schedules, deadlines, and the constant pull to do, and simply be.

For me, it looked like taking a true break for the first time in years—a trip to the South of France, part of it spent on a yoga retreat. Unlike retreats I’d attended before, this one wasn’t about unpacking old wounds or revisiting the past. It was about presence. My instructor often reminded us to remember to remember—to pause, notice, and fully inhabit the moment, to be here rather than elsewhere in our minds.

Giving myself that space was a gentle reminder. Healing and alignment aren’t always found in the past. Sometimes they emerge simply by slowing down, noticing the world around us, and allowing ourselves to be present. Just for a moment—or as long as we need.

Feng Shui reflects this beautifully. When we give ourselves space, our inner clarity naturally extends outward, and our homes can reflect that openness. As energy begins to flow within, we notice ways to invite that same flow into our surroundings. Simple acts—clearing a surface, opening a window, or adding fresh flowers—anchor us in the present moment and help energy circulate, reinforcing both clarity and abundance.

Now, as we transition into fall, that invitation to create space continues. Virgo season carries a grounding energy, guiding us from the fiery, outward pace of summer into something steadier and more rooted. In Feng Shui, this mirrors a call to declutter, organize, and create structure—so our homes can support rest, focus, and renewal as the days grow shorter. You may feel drawn to clear out what’s been weighing on you, refresh your dining table to encourage more mindful meals, or simply carve out moments of stillness—lighting a candle, sitting by a window, or taking in the crisp autumn air.

Wherever you find yourself, know that this season is an opportunity to reset not only your inner world but also your home. By giving yourself space—inside and around you—you create the conditions for presence, clarity, and alignment. Our environments can nurture us, reminding us to remember to remember—to be here, now, fully present for this new season.

Feng Shui Tips to Transition Your Home for Fall:

Embrace the Earth Element: Add grounding earthy tones like soft browns, muted yellows, or ochres to evoke stability and abundance as the days grow shorter.

Declutter and Let Go: Autumn is a natural time for release. Clear closets, organize your kitchen, and remove items that no longer serve you. Creating space allows fresh energy and new opportunities to flow in.

Enhance Metal Energy: Virgo season calls for clarity, focus, and precision. Introduce metallic accents—silver, gold, brass—or round shapes and white/grey colors to invite organization and refinement into your spaces.

Cozy Up Your Home: Bring out soft blankets, plush pillows, warm lighting, and rich textures like wool or velvet. Scented candles in cinnamon, clove, or sandalwood can create a comforting, introspective atmosphere.

Reflect and Set Intentions: Use this season to honor your growth, reflect on lessons, and set intentions for the months ahead. Journaling, meditating, or simply spending quiet time in nature can help you align with autumn’s rhythms.

If you’re ready to create space—in your mind, your life, and your home—consider how small, intentional shifts can transform your energy. Whether it’s a simple declutter, a thoughtful redesign, or a Feng Shui consultation to align your space with your intentions, I’d love to guide you in creating a home that supports your presence, clarity, and flow. Design Alignment Call and take the first step toward a space—and life—that truly reflects you.
